About Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu
GMC Jammu admission 2023 for MBBS or BDS courses shall be conducted based on NEET results followed by the counselling process. Students who have qualified the NEET exam shall appear for the counselling process. The NEET round 1 counselling registration 2024 will begin on July 20, 2023. The round 1 choice filling and locking process will be conducted between July 22 to July 26, 2023. Moreover, the NEET counselling result round 1 is expected to be announced on July 29, 2023.
GMC Jammu medical course admission 2023 are offered on the basis of marks secured by the candidates in NEET UG results 2023. NTA has announced the NEET 2023 results on June 13, 2023. Candidates have to get their login credentials ready i.e. application number and date of birth and visit the NEET result official website to download scorecards. The results were available at neet.nta.nic.in 2023. The authorities have also released the GMC Jammu NEET cutoff along with the results. Candidates have to score more than the NEET UG cutoff and the GMC Jammu NEET result 2023 cutoff to get a seat in their desired course. Prabanjan J from Tamil Nadu and Bora Varun Chakravarthi from Andhra Pradesh share the lead for the top spot with 720 marks. Pranjal Aggarwal of Punjab was the female topper, with 715 points, and ranks fourth overall in India. In Jammu & Kashmir, a total of 37,276 students registered out of which 36,431 students appeared for the NEET 2023 exam.
GMC Jammu courses were started to train fifty medical students for MBBS courses per year and to serve as a referral hospital for Jammu Province. But now the seating capacity has been increased to 120 students per year, Besides the MBBS course, the college also imparts a post-graduate training course. The college offers post-graduate training programmes and M.B.B.S. courses. In order to promote medical education, GMC, Jammu has steadily raised its intake and implemented quick adjustments.
GMC Jammu faculty are highly qualified. There are 800 doctors including faculty and residents, 1000 Paramedical Staff including supervisory staff, and 1500 Class-III & IV employees working in the college and its associated hospitals. Three Blocks. i.e., R.s.Pura, Kot-Bhalwal, and Dansal are also affiliated with Medical College, Jammu for the training of undergraduates & post-graduate students of the college.

The Ancillary Medical Training (A.M.T.) The school is a pioneer institute for training the Ancillary Medical personnel in the Jammu Division of Jammu & Kashmir State and offering basic and promotional educational programs. It is controlled financially by the Principal, Govt. Medical College & Dean to associated Hospitals, Jammu and academically affiliated to Jammu & Kashmir State Medical Faculty. The primary objective of the school is to provide and promote education in the field of health.
The school was established in the year 1953 and initially three years of General Nursing, Two years of Auxiliary Nurse Midwife and one year of Paramedical i.e. Compounder, Dental Technician, Laboratory Technician, Radiological Technician and Sanitary Inspector Diploma Programs were formulated to meet the health needs of the society of Jammu division. Later nine months midwifery program was added to General Nursing Program and two years Auxiliary Nurse Midwife Program was replaced with and half years Female Multi-purpose Health Worker Program as per the central pattern. In the year 1981, the Jammu and Kashmir State Medical Faculty approved the initiation of two years Ophthalmic Assistant Diploma Program.
In 1996, six months Lady Health Visitor promotional Training Program for trained Female Multi-purpose Health Workers was also started to meet the health needs in the Public Health Field. The Compounder, Dental Technician, Laboratory Technician, and Radiological Tech. Sanitary Inspector programmes have been revised and now two years Diploma programme in Pharmacist/Medical Asstt., Dental Assistant, Laboratory Assistant, X-ray Assistant, and Sanitary Inspector are being offered. Further three and half years of General Nursing and Midwifery courses as per the Indian Nursing Council have also been adopted from the current session.
The School believes in training the Nurses and other Health personnel from all the ten districts of Jammu division where they will work as effective members of the health team for society. The school provides opportunities for the students to integrate and utilize knowledge, understanding and skills from various fields of Nursing and other Paramedical.
The objective of the School is to provide education for the preparation of Nursing and other personnel who are committed to the promotion of health, prevention of disease, and care and rehabilitation of clients.

GMC Jammu cut off 2023 is the minimum score required for admission to the courses offered by the college. Candidates securing over and above the cutoff for GMC Jammu will be offered admission. Interested students seeking admission to GMC Jammu need to pass an entrance exam and qualify for the Government Medical College Jammu cut-off 2023 marks and ranks. Animal House: An animal house with 40-50 animals has been established in the college complex for the practice of students of UG's and PG's
Auditorium: The GMC Jammu Facilities has an auditorium with a seating capacity of 830 seats which is located in the 3rd & 4th floors of the Administrative block.
Canteen: Two separate canteens for faculty members, students, and staff members have been established on the ground and on the 5th floor of the college building.
Central Computer Cell: A Central Computer Cell has been established in the administrative Block of the Principal for the Administration, Accounts, and Student sections. While the work of the college has been computerized. All the section has been connected with the Principal and connecting the various departments with the principal is going on. Internet facility is also available.
Central Library: Central Library of GMC, Jammu has four Undergraduates and two Post-graduate and one staff common reading. One Journal section, one reference section, one teacher's section and a reading hall with a seating capacity of one hundred is available in the library. 329 and more (Indian and Foreign) journals are subscribed to annually for the research work. The library has equipped with an Internet facility for research work. Photocopy facilities is also available in the library section. The campus is well maintained and has states of art facilities. It offers accommodation facilities for the students of GMC Jammu as well. Separate dorms are available at the college for undergraduate and postgraduate students. There are separate blocks for male and female students. Boys can choose from three blocks with three stories for UG and PG stidents, while girls can choose from three stories with two blocks. A total of 549 rooms are there altogether. All of the dorms are located near the college building, between 200 and 500 metres from various hospitals.

Yes, Government Medical College Jammu offers a B.Sc course at the college. GMC Jammu was started with 50 MBBS students. However, the seating capacity has now been raised to 180 students per year, and the college now offers post-graduate training courses in addition to the MBBS programme. The college has started 3 years B.Sc Paramedical courses in eight specialisations. You can apply online from the official website. The authorities accept NEET scores for admission in B.Sc Paramedical courses. However, you must check the eligibility criteria beforehand to avoid disqualification from admission.
