The Ancillary Medical Training (A.M.T.) The school is a pioneer institute for training the Ancillary Medical personnel in the Jammu Division of Jammu & Kashmir State and offering basic and promotional educational programs. The primary objective of the school is to provide and promote education in the field of health.
The school was established in the year 1953 and initially three years of General Nursing, Two years of Auxiliary Nurse Midwife and one year of Paramedical i.e. Compounder, Dental Technician, Laboratory Technician, Radiological Technician and Sanitary Inspector Diploma Programs were formulated to meet the health needs of the society of Jammu division. Later nine months midwifery program was added to General Nursing Program and two years Auxiliary Nurse Midwife Program was replaced with and half years Female Multi-purpose Health Worker Program as per the central pattern. In the year 1981, the Jammu and Kashmir State Medical Faculty approved the initiation of two years Ophthalmic Assistant Diploma Program.
In 1996, six months Lady Health Visitor promotional Training Program for trained Female Multi-purpose Health Workers was also started to meet the health needs in the Public Health Field. The Compounder, Dental Technician, Laboratory Technician, and Radiological Tech. Sanitary Inspector programmes have been revised and now two years Diploma programme in Pharmacist/Medical Asstt., Dental Assistant, Laboratory Assistant, X-ray Assistant, and Sanitary Inspector are being offered. Further three and half years of General Nursing and Midwifery courses as per the Indian Nursing Council have also been adopted from the current session.

Canteen: Two separate canteens for faculty members, students, and staff members have been established on the ground and on the 5th floor of the college building.

The campus is well maintained and has states of art facilities. It offers accommodation facilities for the students of GMC Jammu as well. However, the seating capacity has now been raised to 180 students per year, and the college now offers post-graduate training courses in addition to the MBBS programme.
